VA Claims Agent Exam Prep

Try the voice quiz game: how it works

Last updated October 4, 2026. Independent guide, not affiliated with VA. Not legal advice.

The voice quiz game turns exam prep into a head-to-head match. Two AI hosts, Dana and Marcus, run the round: they read the questions, react to your answers, and keep score against a simulated opponent. It is studying, but it feels like game night.

What the game is

How a round works

  1. Enter your name. The game greets you by name and finds you a simulated opponent.
  2. Dana reads the question. You hear the question and the four answer choices, spoken conversationally.
  3. You answer out loud or tap. Marcus reacts to your pick, right or wrong, with the warmth of a coach, not a robot.
  4. Score and explain. Correct answers earn points. Every answer comes with a short explanation of the rule, so a miss still teaches.
  5. Winner takes the round. Best score after the round wins, and you can rematch instantly.

Speed controls

Every clip plays at 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x, with pitch preserved so slowed audio still sounds natural. Slow it down to catch every word of a tricky rule, or speed it up when you are reviewing material you already know.

Sample round transcript

The transcript below is an illustrative sample of the hosts' style, not a recording of a real round.

Dana: Welcome back to the Claim Game! I am Dana, your host, and this is my partner in crime, Marcus. Say hi, Marcus.

Marcus: Hi, Marcus. Also, I am an AI, in case the silky voice fooled you.

Dana: He wishes. Tonight we have got Alex facing off against our simulated rival, BlitzBot. Alex, no pressure, but BlitzBot has never lost. Because BlitzBot is a computer. Moving on!

Marcus: Question one, and it is a classic. Under 38 CFR 14.629(b)(4), when must an accredited agent notify VA of a change in bar status? Is it A, 10 days, B, 60 days, C, 30 days, or D, not until the annual certification?

Alex: C, 30 days.

Dana: Correct! Thirty days, and it cannot wait for the yearly paperwork. Alex takes the early lead. BlitzBot is filing an appeal.

Marcus: Question two, effective dates. A veteran's knee increased to a higher rating, and the earliest evidence is dated May 15th. The complete claim for an increase arrives January 12th of the next year. Under 38 CFR 3.400(o)(2), what is the effective date? A, the claim date, B, May 15th, C, a year before the claim, or D, the decision date?

Alex: A? The claim date?

Marcus: Ooh, so close, and such a good guess. The answer is B, May 15th: the earliest date the increase was factually ascertainable, because the claim arrived within a year of it. The claim date is the default in a lot of rules, which is exactly why this one is a trap. You still get a gold star for confidence.

Dana: Final question, fees. A non-direct-pay fee agreement, the agent collects from the claimant. Where does it get filed, and when? Under 38 CFR 14.636(g)(3).

Alex: With OGC, within 30 days of signing.

Dana: Yes! OGC within 30 days. Direct-pay goes to the AOJ, non-direct-pay goes to OGC, same deadline. And that is the round: Alex wins, two to one! BlitzBot demands a rematch. What do you say, Alex?
